Most people know Thailand through its food. Pad Thai, Tom Yum, and Green Curry have traveled far beyond its borders. So has Red Bull, which traces back to a Thai energy drink created by businessman Chaleo Yoovidhya, who co-founded the Red Bull brand in the 1980s. ThaiBev, the maker of Chang Beer, was founded in Thailand. Thai Union Group, the world's largest producer of canned tuna and owner of Chicken of the Sea, is headquartered in Samut Sakhon.

Thailand builds more than food and beverage brands. Its automotive industry is the largest in Southeast Asia, manufacturing vehicles for Toyota, Honda, and many others.

Thailand's telecom history stretches back to the late 19th century, when the Ministry of Defense managed the country's first telegraph lines. Today, the country is in the middle of a data center boom. Thailand attracted $16.1 billion in data center investment in the first half of 2025, according to the country's Board of Investment. Hyperscalers, including AWS, Google, Microsoft, and ByteDance, have pledged billions more. Bangkok has established itself as the second largest data center market in Southeast Asia.

The new protected terrestrial route connects Bangkok to Singapore and the rest of Cogent’s global network.

Whether you're expanding across Southeast Asia or establishing your first presence in Thailand, Cogent can connect you there, and so much more.
