NovoServe
“Cogent offers broad geographic coverage directly interconnected with major global networks, allowing our customer traffic to take the shortest, lowest-latency path available."
- Sjoerd van Gronig, Product Manager, NovoServe
Sjoerd van Groning still remembers signing a 100Mbps transit contract with Dave Schaeffer in Hamburg. That was years before he joined NovoServe. Both networks have since scaled from early Mbps pipes to multi-terabit backbones, which makes the relationship a long one.
NovoServe is focused on a single product: dedicated servers. The company provides the foundation other businesses build on, so its customers can run their applications without managing the infrastructure underneath them. That focus puts network quality at the center of everything. When your product is the ground other companies stand on, stability and performance are not features. They are the whole promise.
That promise gets demanding fast. NovoServe's customers manage their own servers and deploy their own bandwidth-intensive applications: streaming platforms, VPN providers, CDN distribution. The company provisions dedicated servers with unmetered uplinks ranging from 1Gbps to 50Gbps, and the unmetered server is its most popular category. Delivering that at scale, with high availability, takes transit partners who can keep up.
NovoServe became a Cogent customer in 2017. Van Groning's own connection to the company runs deeper, back to that Hamburg contract. In his role in product management, he helps bring on new locations and network providers, so he judges a partner on what actually matters when you expand: price-performance, capacity, and reach.
Cogent delivers on all three data centers. NovoServe runs Cogent capacity in the Netherlands (1.8T), Denmark (200G), and the United States (400G). The large footprint is the deciding factor. It makes starting business in a new location easier, because Cogent already knows who NovoServe is and where the company is headed.
For redundancy, NovoServe runs multiple transit providers. Cogent is one of the primary tier-1 suppliers and carries a significant portion of NovoServe's global IP traffic. As the company opens new locations, van Groning expects Cogent to be part of them.
